VRML Back End

Has anyone thought about creating a VRML transform back end along the lines
of the SGML transform back end?  I can create the same effect using the
SGML transform back end (there's a lot of power in that
formatting-instruction flow object), but it would be nice to embed the VRML
construction knowledge into the back end (it would also facilitate tracking
the evolution of the VRML language).

Just a thought.
