The recent large-scale changes to the table code were to provide better support for vertically spanning entries. If your tables have a lot of those, they will work better with the latest versions. If your tables don't use horizontal or vertical spans, I would expect them to work in 0.89, but I'm still gonna recommend that you upgrade before telling me that they don't work ;-) If they still don't work, please let me know. > So, I would like to upgrade the stylesheets to the v0.9x versions from > Norm, which mention that table support has been updated. This is a feature. > So, do some catalogs, which are _not_ supplied with the style sheets, > need to get updated? If so, which ones? The stylesheets all use system identifiers with relative paths. You don't need a catalog for the stylesheets. You do need a catalog for the DocBook DTD (and Jade), but upgrading DocBook stylesheets has no effect on that. > Also, Norm's web page makes > mention of nsgmlsu, which is not on my system; I assume it is not > equivalent to nsgmls, which _is_ in the packages. If you look in the Jade directory, you'll see that it's nsgmlsu.exe that's distributed with Jade. But the stylesheets don't use it, those sections of the web pages are just "getting started" instructions. (And I guess I need to improve them ;-) > Does anyone have some hints or suggestions on the best way for me to > proceed? Um, you should be able to install the new stylesheets in a different place on your system and then use jade -d /wherever/you/put/em/print/docbook.dsl to test it. If you have trouble, let me know. > These RPMs use jade/1.0.1, jadetex/0.51, and Norm Walsh's v0.89 style > sheets. The packages put all style sheets into the same directory > (/usr/lib/sgml/stylesheets/). Yeah, I didn't make those RPMs. I guess I'd suggest /usr/lib/sgml/stylesheets/jade/docbook/ as the destination for the Jade DocBook stylesheets, but it's up to you. --norm P.S. I haven't tried JadeTeX in a long time. Does anyone with more experience have any comments? DSSSList info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/dsssl/dssslist
