Preserve comments in SGML transformation?

Is there a way to preserve comments during an SGML-SGML transformation
using Jade's SGML backend?  I have to move some elements in a set of
SGML documents, but the documents are still very much "work in
progress" and they contain numerous comments at the places where
there's unresolved issues with the tagging.  Is there a way, using
Jade, that I can do my transformation and output the comments in the
right places in the output SGML?
