The extra > effort would be insignificant imho. i don't really see what you suggest. you mean write an _ad hoc_ SGML to LaTeX converter in DSSSL using the SGML backend of Jade, but with no SGML? sure, would work, but it would not really be using DSSSL. if you want to write an SGML to LaTeX converter, one of the more `traditional' tools would surely be easier.
