It's intended to support DSSSL Online.  It's really just a normal Jade
backend, except a little more sophisticated since it doesn't have the luxury
of delegating tasks like line- and page-breaking, etc. to a third-party
program like Word (RTF), Framemaker (MIF) or what-have-you.
