DSSSL is much more powerful than FOSI, and uses a much different execution
model. I don't think that DSSSL could be converted into FOSI with any
reliability at all. Essentially, the problem is equivalent to the halting
problem: known to be unsolvable.

It would be possible to write software that looked at some DSSSL rules,
and recognized what some simple ones did, and did the right thing in FOSI.
But even a simple looking stylesheet might use some "tricky" DSSSL feature
in a very basic rule (i.e. the rule for processing the document element)
and everything else would be completely wrong because of it.
