Some time ago I did some experiments with index-processing in jade. I implemented the page-number procedure from 12.5.1.2 for the TeX backend by having jadetex create and sgml file containing the page-number information which is then used in a second jade run via sgml-parse. This technique should work for every backend which can produce an auxiliary file containing the page-number info. If you are interested, I could dig out that stuff.
