this path looks for Type1 instances, of which you have none here
(excluding the Acrobat Multiple Masters). in addition, font names
should be according to the Berry naming scheme. fun, isnt it? these
TeX setups try to be rational, unlike font vendors and Microsoft

.pfm files are of no interest to TeX at all, by the way.

in any case, the way I read your problem is that you tried to use
Computer Modern fonts (Type1 versions of which are probably stored in
%R\fonts\type1//). so these Acrobat fonts are not relevant.

sorry, i am probably confusing you even more. show me the log of
running dvips (offline, please).
