Subject: An article about Tony Graham library From: "Didier PH Martin" <martind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri, 30 Apr 1999 14:34:57 -0400 |
Hi, Here is a link to an article about Tony Graham HTML library. This is targeted to novices who want to use DSSSL and the SML/XML browser kit as a tool for document rendition. It is not well advertised nor well known that both SGML and XML documents could be rendered with DSSSL. The article takes a simple XML document and get its element transformed into HTML for rendition. Off course, in the scenario explained in the document, rendition is client side. Thus a XML document is first downloaded by the local browser and then transformed into HTML objects to be finally displayed in the browser. The same library, as some may already have tried, could be use to transform SMGL or XML documents on the server side. This article goal is to show that a DSSSL scripts used as rendition tools are not more complex than XSL. The library facility adds the power to create new objects not mentioned in the original specs. James additions to DSSSL made this possible and we all thank him for this useful feature. Also, thanks to Tony for still working to push DSSSL limits.
