> Another approach to this would be to turn off ligatures in the font in use; Yes, as I mentioned, that is the `correct' way, but unfortunately you can't do that from within TeX, it would mean (for every font to be used from dsssl) having a new set of font metrics (and most likely also a tex virtual font) to be installed. This wouldn't really help to make jadetex easy to install for people who don't really know tex.
