Ooops! Sorry James: my mistake... I solved so many
problems by using the Sun compiler that I thought it
was the same for OpenJade, but it's not.

In fact, what I did was the following:
- I did use gcc; my version was 2.95.2 but there's no
reason why it shouldn't work with yours.
- I *DID NOT* use the "configure" script. This was
what made the executable crash in the end. Instead, I
edited manually the supplied Makefile. The two lines I
modified were the one beginning with "prefix=", to
change the location for the generated executable, and
the one beginning with "DEFINES=", where I removed the
"-DSP_HAVE_BOOL" option.
- I then simply ran "make", which generated all needed
executables without problem.

To achieve all this, you may have to download the
openjade tarball again in order to get the original
Makefile. I hope I don't forget anything: it was quite
a long time ago and I may not remember everything. If
you run into other problems, please let me know: it
may remind me a few other things...

Sorry for that... I hope I didn't make you lose too
much time...
