Subject: Beyond the identity transform From: Paul Prescod <papresco@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Sun, 13 Sep 1998 21:21:02 -0400 (EDT) |
As far as I can figure out, XSL can transform content into attribute values (pattern string expressions), attribute values into content (xsl:value-of), etc. These are pretty neat types of transformations. One thing it cannot do is generate GIs based on input GIs or attribute values. The former operation is necessary to do the identity transform. The latter is one of the most enduring and popular transformational devices in SGML processing. I hope that XSL will support both with the same facility.
