There are already existing applications that do similar work, at least I know of
one application that can definitely performsimilar operations.  Acting as a
front end to something like SQL Server to set and store meta-information for
each file introduced to the application.  Searches are performed on the docs
quickly.  And, using asp pages and applying stylesheets using numerous methods,
such as MSXML, the info can be shown to the user painlessly.
