you could use <xsl:comment> but 
this will generate <!-- aLiteral -->
into the result.

But, will dreamweaver know what to do with the 
templates anyway?

<xsl:value-of select="some_data"/><xsl:comment>aLiteral</xsl:comment>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
