Do not quote entire XSL-List posts

Subject: Do not quote entire XSL-List posts

The second XSL-List digest of the day was issued recently because, for
the second time today, the list traffic exceeded 40,000 bytes.

However, 10 of the 24 messages in the digest included complete copies
of the messages to which they were replying. Some of the copied
messages contained complete copies of other, earlier messages. In
addition, 1 message had a rather large HTML version of the message as
an attachment.

DO NOT COPY ENTIRE XSL-LIST POSTS when you reply to a XSL-List post.
It may save you a few seconds to not trim your quotes, but more than
1500 people on the XSL-List and the XSL-List Digest have already seen
the message to which you are replying and they don't need to see it
again. The majority of readers of the XSL-List Digest *will* see it
again if you include it, since they have to page past it to get to the
new information that they do want to read.

Please observe the simple courtesy of trimming your quotes to the
portion to which you are directly replying or quote just enough to
establish the context.

Regards,

Tony Graham
