terms confusing XSL and XSLT

i'm lost between XSL and XSLT
some people talk about XSL stylesheet but when i read
example it talk about XSLT stylesheet which can
transform and format an XML document into an HTML
document
So is XSL is reduce to XSLT ?
so when XSL FO is used ?
