hi David, Thanks for your reply. I figured out the problem about 10 minutes after I posted (isn't that always the way;)). It was because of the way I was setting the parameters. I'm doing transformations on a servlet and when you set a parameter to a string you have to set it with single quotes inside of double qoutes and I was only setting it with the double quotes.
