Hi again, when I parse with: <xsl:value-of select="ancestor:Element[@attribute]"/> the parser tells me that ancestor is not declared in the namespace. This is my namespace declaration: <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:fo="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Format"> Should I have only one? james p.s. thanks sara -----Original Message----- From: owner-xsl-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:owner-xsl-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of sara.mitchell@xxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, January 02, 2001 3:00 PM To: xsl-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: [xsl] Saxon parser Your syntax is incorrect. Ancestor is an axis that must be followed by ":node-type". I'm not sure exactly what you want to select, but it looks like you want to select and ancestor named Element that contains an attribute with an value named attribute. If that is what you want to select, the syntax should be: <xsl:value-of select="ancestor:Element[@attribute]"/> Sara > -----Original Message----- > From: James Piva [mailto:james.piva@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] > Sent: Tuesday, January 02, 2001 11:40 AM > To: xsl-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [xsl] Saxon parser > > > Hi, > I'm having a problem with saxon parser. > It seems that the parser does not recognize `ancestor`. > > > <xsl:value-of select="ancestor(Element[@attribute])"/> > > > This is normal?
