try this: <MYCustomer><xsl:attribute name="ID"><xsl:value-of select="$myvar/></xsl:attribute></MYCustomer> you probably don't need the variable, but hey, variables are fun. I have to read an attribute from the source XML file and substitute the value into Attribute value of target XML File. example: Source XML <Customer ID="A001"> </Customer> target XML <MYCustomer ID="A001"> </MYCustomer> If I write XSL like this <xsl:variable name="myvar" select="@ID"/> <MYCustomer ID="$myvar"> </MYCustomer> the result is comming as <MYCustomer ID="$myvar"> </MYCustomer> But I want to substitute the variable into ID attribute. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Raj. XSL-List info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list XSL-List info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list
