Don, now i am confused, i get the namespace concept, if i were to change it
from user:current_date to other:current_date, it wouldn't work because the
function current_date is defined within the user namespace.

my question was purely with the URI, and what it's significance was...

in my case i set it to todd@xxxxxxxx which is not a valid email address, but
that didn't seem to be a problem.

i was merely wondering if it needed to be a valid URI or not....
