Well, let's try to translate it to xpath:

>I want to count 
count(
>the Task nodes
count(//Task
> which
count(//Task[
>do not
count(//Task[not(
>contain attribute
count(//Task[not(@
>due="true"
count(//Task[not(@due='true')])

Translation has finished, the result is count(//Task[not(@due='true')])
