Any hints? > Inside the predicate the context node is a table attribute. Attributes do not have attributes, so @table evaluates to an empty node-set. Try: ///@table[not(. = preceding::node()/@table)] Also, don't do this for large documents, unless you have plenty of time ;-). There are better methods - for example look up Muenchian grouping in the FAQ.
