If I understand it correctly, Project[current()/@projectname = ProjectName] ^^ ^ ^ would give me the Project element where the ProjectName attribute equals ^ ^ the ProjectName attribute of the Project element I'm processing. ^ ^ ^^^^^^^^^ No. XML is case sensitive and attributes are different from elements. Your expression looks for attribute of the current node called projectname (not ProjectName) and tests it against the value of and tests it against a child element (not attribute) called ProjectName.
