Hi Norm: <xsl:value-of> outputs the text content of a node, and the text content of a node is a concatenation of all string values of all children nodes. Consider the following: <quote>To <underline>boldly</underline> go where no man has gone before</quote> In this case, what is the quote? Clearly it is: To boldly go where no man has gone before. In your XML is the content under considered to be part of the <name> or is it different? If it is different, you should restructure your XML such that sub is not a child of name. One possibility is: <chapter> <name>subscript</name> testsub </chapter> In this case, you could change your xslt like: <xsl:template match="/"> Name: <xsl:value-of select="name"/> Sub: <xsl:value-of select="sub"/> </xsl:template> HTH! (FILES INCLUDED) Hi all, I apologize for still bothering you all with this :(. I have a very simple xml/xsl file. I am using IE 5.5 to open the xml file and the out put is this: 'subscript testsub' Why didn't it do the actual subscript of 'testsub'? I am so confused and frustrated at this issue. I truly need your expert advice on this. Thank you all so much in advance. Norm <?xml version="1.0"?> <?xml-stylesheet type='text/xsl' href='test.xsl'?> <document id=" "> <chapter> <name>subscript testsub </name> </chapter> </document> <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" > <xsl:template match="/" > <xsl:value-of select="."/> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> __________________________________________________________________ Your favorite stores, helpful shopping tools and great gift ideas.
