> ERROR: The name of the top most element must match the name of the DOCTYPE > declaration. that error message seems clear enough: Your top level element is xsl:stylesheet but you have declared that it is stylesheet in the declaration. make that <!DOCTYPE xsl:stylesheet However that is a validity error not a well formedness error which implies you are using a validating parser, this is rarely a good idea on an xslt stylesheet as it will force you to declare all the elements and attributes as well as the entity values. Having said that you don't really need to declare these entities in teh stylesheet you can just use ñ or type teh n-tilde character directly, either of which isn't really any harder than typing ñ and avoids the need for the doctype declaration.
