Ismaël, This only works if your result is a serialised XML document. If, instead of writing to a file or socket or whatever, you were to send the output of the transform to a DOM tree, you'd end up with a text node containing a bunch of characters which looks like a DOCTYPE definition. You would NOT end up with a proper DOCTYPE node in the DOM tree.
