I think it is fair to say that the vast majority (perhaps all) of us hope
that each individual author succeeds with his or her books regardless of the
fate of Wrox. I have gotten some very beneficial books, and I hope that
those books can continue to be published, and that new editions will be
forthcoming, through some miracle. For example, I sincerely hope that
Michael Kay can benefit in the future from his work on XSLT Programmers
Reference, regardless of whether or not Wrox survives. Those are the bigger
issues, and I think everyone would agree with that.

That being said, if some place runs a sale on their remaining inventory of
Wrox books, and I wanted to own copies of those books, I wouldn't hesitate
to buy them that way. How would that hurt the authors? I haven't heard
from anyone who hopes the authors suffer in all of this, even though they
probably will. (On the other hand, I wouldn't understand why places would
try to liquidate books that will probably have a good demand going forward,
especially because of the prospect of not being able to obtain more in the
future.)

The world is full of big and small issues, connected in various ways. But I
don't see the connection between speculation about good deals on books, and
the real financial pain that is experienced by people associated with a
company that declares bankruptsy. There is no conflict between these two
issues that I can see.

I wish the best to the people who really create the value, the authors of
the books. I am sorry to see them hurt this way. I think that is a fairly
universal perspective.
