Subject: [xsl] xsl:attribute -- posting again with more information...sorry From: "Kathy Burke" <Kathy_Burke@xxxxxxxxx> Date: Mon, 28 Apr 2003 16:55:42 -0400 |
Sorry I didn't give enough information. Below is the xslt for creating a table of procedure <steps>. I'm trying to create a Start and Finish timer attribute (input=button) for EACH step (empty at load, then use code to capture the system time when clicked -- these two attributes should appear only if <step>'s attribute Timer = yes). I'm asked this question in a different way last week (I think) but still haven't gotten it right...so it may look familiar. html output would be: Start Finish Step Text Start Finish Step Text, etc. XSL: <xsl:template match="step"> <xsl:variable name="space" select="(count(ancestor::step) * 12 + 1) * 7"/> <tr> <td align="center" valign="top"> <xsl:apply-templates select="@timer[.='yes']"/> </td> <td valign="top"> <table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td valign="top" width="{$space}"> <table border="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td valign="top" width="{$space}">  </td> <td valign="top"> <xsl:number level="multiple" count="step" format="1.1"/> <xsl:if test="not(ancestor::step)"> <xsl:text>.</xsl:text> </xsl:if> <xsl:text>  </xsl:text> </td> </tr> </table> </td> <td> <xsl:apply-templates select="*[not(self::step)]"/> </td> </tr> </table> </td> </tr> <xsl:apply-templates select="step"/> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="@timer"> <xsl:if test=".='yes'"> <xsl:attribute name="Start"></xsl:attribute> <input type="button" value="Start"></input> <xsl:attribute name="Finish"></xsl:attribute> <td align="center" valign="top"> <input type="button" value="Finish"></input></td> </xsl:if> </xsl:template> Thanks. I don't think you are comprehending the output that you want, Kathy. ><xsl:template match="@timer"> > <xsl:if test=".='yes'"> > <xsl:attribute name="Start"></xsl:attribute> > <input type="button" value="Start"></input> > <xsl:attribute name="Finish"></xsl:attribute> > <input type="button" value="Finish"></input> > </xsl:if> ></xsl:template> The first <xsl:atribute> above just adds Start="" to the current element. The second <xsl:attribute> above will trigger an error because there is content going out before an attribute is attempted to be added. Perhaps if you put into a new mail message what the <step> looks like and what your anticipated output HTML looks like, then we can help you with the XSLT you need to get there. Without knowing what you want, it is awkward to advise, and from what you have written above it is difficult to try and divine what it was you were hoping to get. ..................
