Subject: [xsl] New XPath 2.0 WD From: "Michael Kay" <mhk@xxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri, 22 Aug 2003 23:38:35 +0100 |
A new XPath 2.0 WD has been published today at http://www.w3.org/TR/xpath20/ Some of the XQuery 1.0 specs are also republished (XQuery 1.0 itelf, the formal semantics, the use cases). There is no new XSLT 2.0 spec this time. There are no sinister reasons for this, the editor's vacation plans clashed with the publishing schedule, and the XSL WG decided it was better to hold back until after our next meeting in September. The two specs that are out on last call (Functions and Operators, Data Model) are also not being republished: this is because there is still a lot of work to do to respond to all the public comments that have been received. There is very little technical change in the XPath 2.0 spec. There are still one or two thorny issues but they are essentially around the edges - conformance rules, how to specify consistency between the static context and the dynamic context, etc - not things that actually affect the core syntax. So the signs are that the language is getting pretty stable. Michael Kay XSL-List info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list
