Altsoft,

1. The HTML that InfoPath rich text box generates for any rich text
added into it is XHTML. So we have the XML compliance covered.
2. I think even the formatting would be taken care of and if not I shall
think about a way around that.
The current question is what would be the most convenient and
non-complex (hopefully) way to convert a blob of X-HTML to Word ML.

Any thoughts are welcome.

Thanks,

Abhishek

There are two core problems that prevent from doing universal XSLT
solution
for HTML (or even XHTML):
1. HTML may be not valid XML. If XML is not valid XSLT processor fails.
Thus
only XHTML is Ok for XSLT.
2. Formatting is described in CSS. CSS might be defined in the style
attribute, in the <script> tag or in the external file. CSS have
numerous
rules for addressing required tags (by class, by id, by tag name, by
attribute value, first child of, second child of the specified parent,
etc.
). All this features are unrealizable using standard XSLT.

Thus, AFAICS, universal XSLT for HTML/XHTML cannot be implemented. This
solution might only be solved using software method.
