Hi George,

supposing the string you want to test is inside a $href variable:
"substring-after($href, '#')" is the string after the # symbol,
if you want to check if it's a null string you can use the string function:
<xsl:if test="string(substring-after($href, '#'))">...not null...</xsl:if>
<xsl:if test="not(string(substring-after($href, '#')))">...null...</xsl:if>
