but you have to fill in the .. in a way that is well formed XML.
As always in XML if you want to put a string involving " in an xml
attribute you need to delimit the attribute with ' or use &quot;

so

<xsl:value-of select='format-date($d, "[D1o] [MNn], [Y]", "en", (),())'/>

or

<xsl:value-of select="format-date($d, &quot;[D1o] [MNn], [Y]&quot;, &quot;en&quot;, (),())"/>

or you can use ' for teh xpath strings:

<xsl:value-of select="format-date($d, '[D1o] [MNn], [Y]', 'en', (),())"/>
