Alternatively, seing as the xsl:choose is just implementing a poor man's
version of apply-templates in that case, you could get rid of the
variable and use apply-templates.

<xsl:apply-templates select="Required|Special"/>
</xsl:attribute>
<xsl:template match="Required[.='yes']">calendarltred</xsl:template>
