translate changes each character in the 2nd argument to the character in the same position in the 3rd argument. In your case your 2nd argument is longer than your 3rd argument, so all the extra characters are translated to "" (that is, deleted) So, you are translating " " to "_" and deleting any occurrences of ".:*"'+,|$&'><"%?!v|dV\D_q/\" I guess you want your 3rd argument to be _________________________________ (I didn't check the length of that:-) David ________________________________________________________________________ This e-mail has been scanned for all viruses by Star.
