I would normally suggest here that your XSLT code should transform one input
file to one output file, and that you should write an application around
this which invokes the transformation once for each pair of files. But it
you want to do this within Stylus, your options are more limited. You can do
a fair bit in Saxon using the collection() function which returns a set of
input documents, for example

xsl:for-each select="collection(concat($dir, '?select=*.xml;recurse=yes'))"
