Your requested output appears to just depend on the ec elements and not at all on your t element, something like <table> <xsl:for-each select="ec"> <tr> <td><xsl:value-of select="@X"/></td> <td><xsl:value-of select="@value"/></td> </tr> </xsl:for-each> </table> It's not clear why you need any variables at all?
