I believe
Xalan also has some kind of extension in this area but you will have to
check the product documentation.

as mentioned, Xalan supports dyn:evaluate() (and actually, most exslt extensions), see: http://xml.apache.org/xalan-j/apidocs/org/apache/xalan/lib/ExsltDynamic.html
