Quite. Also, in the past, this was done not with a native Powerpoint XML (which didn't exist back when the requirement first emerged) but with the variant of HTML that Powerpoint exported and imported.


That might make a more tractable target even today, albeit at the risk of losing functionality. Testing would be required.
