You may not like its choice, which you don't have control over in a standard way.  Saxon for example has extension attributes to control the number of spaces, other XSL processors don't.  If you want total control over indentation, then you should set indent="no" and add the indentation as you see fit which, unless you are OCD, is just not worth it.
