You probably want the Saxon namespace to be "http://saxon.sf.net/";
....the icl.com one is very old.

I'd go down the saxon:parse route, an alternative is to use LexEv, or
if needed roll your own that includes tidying the contents into
well-formed xml using tagsoup.
