What i was expecting was if I goto page 2 of april 2005 there will be 3 articles displayed because articles_per_page has the value of 3 and offset has value of 1 and end has the value of 5.

So this rule : <xsl:apply-templates select="dagboek/entry[position() > $offset][position() < $end]" / is supposed to display all the articles between 1 and 5. So articles 2,3,4.

But it won't because the second predicate is applied to the *results* of the first predicate. To have it applied simultaneously with the first predicate, you need to put it *in* the first predicate:

[position() > $offset and position() < $end]

Can anyone help me figure out why this happens ?

Because the "[position() < $end]" predicate is being applied to those returned by the "[position() > $offset]" predicate.

I hope this helps.
