Saxon (PE and EE) 9.4 already implement quite a few of the features:

- streaming (in part)
- try/catch
- maps
- xsl:mode
- xsl:evaluate
- xsl:iterate
- xsl:merge

plus the whole of XPath 3.0 except perhaps one or two functions.


Will there be an open source version of Saxon covering 3.0 Michael,
presumably the HE variant?

That could be the decider on 3.0 uptake, at least outside of bigco's.
