I'll have to take a look at the specs.  I was thinking that for a joystick,
you simply had vcc on one pin, gnd on another, and signals on others.
If this were the case, you simply connect both gnd wires together and "cut"
the vcc wire in one leg of the y-cable.  The data signals go to both
consoles.

Again, I'll check the specs and follow up.
