Off the top of my head I would say the notes you are looking for are
F E D C or C B A G (or really any root > semi-tone > tone > tone descention).

But I don't know which sounds would work best. You'd probably have to apply
some sort of ADSR envelope to the volume too. Otherwise it would just be
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP instead of mwump mwump mwump mwump.

Incidently, was I the only one who found myself brainwashed with 
"Meow meow meow meow" (old Cat Chow commercial) while listening to the
cadance in Space Invaders?
