There is a way to set up a filetype with DirOpus to do this kind of thing.
Do you have Directory Opus?  The new version is kinda a hog but the older
version should run on an A500 with scant memory.

For some reason I've been having some weird problems with Makewav related
to it parsing input vs. output filenames.  I wish Makewav could be altered
so that it used an output filename flag like unix commands (-o) which
would probably solve things.

Nevertheless, I figured out a way to get it to consistently generate WAVs
via DirOpus, play via Play16, then clean up after itself which results in
transparent BIN loading on a doubleclick within Directory Opus.
