Not > that I actually expect anyone to do this... the timing issues would be > incredibly difficult... but designing theoretical computer systems is much > more fun than designing the real things :) That was a cool read - just for your info - this is exactly what CMD (http://www.cmdweb.com/) did in making the SuperCPU - it's basically a C64 cartridge that contains a 20Mhz 65816 processor (mine has 16MB on board) - it takes over the computer, pretty much, just using the C64 host for it's I/O, video and sound functions (the keyboard is handy too ;). It's been out for about 2 years now - completely amazing. And they just finished the SCPU128 - a C128 version of the same, which was supposedly an absolute nightmare to make, because of all the timing issues.
