Well, the 6507 will be available in *some* form for many, many years to
come...you can use any of it's various "big brothers" and just hobble them
as needed.  The RIOT could be an issue...but I'm fairly certain that one
could replace it with a CPLD/FPGA.  I'll have to dig out my Rockwell Databook
and check it over again.

I wish I had schematics for the TIA.  I'd like to try to emulate it...
and eventually just build the damned thing in silicon.  If I knew of a
source for schematics (hint, hint) I might look into building a 2600
on a single chip...just for the hell of it!  Maybe add a builtin LCD
controller or whatever to make it easier to interface.

This is true.  But at least their sales representatives are always very
knowledgable.  And helpful.  I always leave Radio Shack with a joyful
feeling!
