I'm no electronic expert, but Paddle 0 and Paddle 1 are usually wired to
the +5V line, so wiring them to the button line shouldn't give you
a detectable signal. Also, if this would work, why would games for the
7800 have to do some initialisation routine to be able to detect both
buttons insividually?
