The contest would involve the creation of a 2600 game which uses the
driving controllers. You see, my all time favorite 2600 game is Race /
Indy 500. The Tag and especially hit the box games are just too much
fun! However, these poor controllers were otherwise ignored and I'd like to see them get used. (I know, Bob Colbert's Stella Sketch used them, but that's not available anymore.) <<

The driving controllers are cool if for no other reason that they give you the power of paddles without the CPU hit of having to poll them in the middle of the screen the way you have to do with paddles.

I guess I'm already in the running for this with Death Derby. Although the driving controllers aren't owned by a lot of 2600 users, which is consequently why it isn't chosen as a controller for homebrew games, I'm still going to make them mandatory for this game. But I already own a Cuttle Cart... Incestuous hobby, isn't it? Maybe a VCSp with an internal cuttle cart would make an even better prize?

We held one contest through Stellalist in 1997 and Piero won for Oystron. We gave him a nicely framed sheet of autographs of Nolan Bushnell and the gang from the Stella at 20 shoot.

I've always wanted to have more contests but the slow rate that games are completed here makes it hard to have any simultaneous competition going on.

I'm not sure whether it's possible to provide enough of a prize incentive to pick up the rate of development here, because time is everyone's worst enemy.
