It wouldn't be 600mb in 4K chunks because audio CDs can only store up to 99 tracks and the data would be stored as audio on the CD, not BINs. That would be 396K if each chunk was 4K (leaving 2K for persistent state and static code), 594K maximum (6K per load).


As you can see, the problem with CDs is the limitation of the redbook audio format.

99 loads is a lot of data, though.

tethering an Atari to a PC to get it to do neat stuff feels more like
cheating.

Not necessarily a PC, just anything that can act as a makewav-style file-server.
